Why we’re a member of the OAAA

Billboard Insider owns Circle City Outdoor, a small out of home company with 65 total faces including 1 digital billboard in Minnesota and Indiana.  We watch ever penny but include an OAAA membership in our annual budget.  Here’s why.

OAAA is our insurance policy on regulatory risk.

When sign codes were rewritten after Reed-Gilbert, OAAA made sure the codes were rewritten in a way that worked for the out of home industry.  When Scenic America filed litigation to do away digital signs OAAA carried the ball for the industry.  When the Reagan-Austin case was being argued the anti-billboard people were spreading inaccuracies in legal briefs and OAAA corrected the errors

OAAA is a great resource.

Just last week we talked with OAAA VP of Government Affairs Kerry Yoakum, about siting billboards on railroad land…Communities sometimes get the crazy idea that they can amortize billboards.  Well, the OAAA has a white paper that you can use to frame your arguments when you go into a city council….Want to see the latest out of home marketing research.  Members can access it via the OAAA website.  And then there are events like the 2023 OAAA/Geopath Media conference or the OAAA legal seminar or OAAA safety seminar.

The OAAA is great value for the money.
