History. was started by Dave Westburg in July 2015 to provide a free daily source of news and analysis on the out of home advertising industry.  In March 2019 Westburg launched the Billboard Insider podcast.

Editorial.  Billboard Insider covers all segments of out of home advertising – transit, airport, static out of home, digital out of home and place based out of home.  It is written by billboard owners for billboard owners.  Co-publishers Dave Westburg and John Weller each have 23 years experience investing in the out of home advertising business.  They post 4-6 daily news articles and interviews.  Billboard Insider is more than a link farm or a press release outlet.  Over half of Billboard Insider’s content is unique to the site and hasn’t appeared elsewhere.

Podcast: Billboard Insider publishes a 20-30 minute podcast every other Wednesday.  The podcast is distributed on apple Podcasts, Android, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn, Spotify and via the Billboard Insider website.  The Billboard Insider podcast has 18,177 downloads since inception.  The podcast averages 305 downloads per episode.

Website.   Billboard Insider website had 695,000 views from 200,000 unique visitors during 2020.   Billboard Insider’s daily email newsletter has 3,017 subscribers.    71% of our subscribers are highly engaged and often open and click on our newsletter.   Billboard Insider’s Twitter feed has 1,310 followers.    Billboard Insider’s Linked In page has 989 followers. Billboard Insider’s facebook page has  978 followers.    Posts are also distributed Dave Westburg’s 2,703 LinkedIn connections and John Weller’s 1,600 LinkedIn connections.

Billboard Insider’s website readership and visitors have grown steadily over the past four years.

No other website can as effectively reach out of home advertising plant owners.    Ads must be submitted in web-ready format.  JPEG files preferred.  No animation.   Content may be changed whenever client wishes at no charge if client provides web ready banner artwork.  The site has the following advertising opportunities.

Left Column Homepage Ad – This 275 pixel by 250 pixel ad appears on the Billboard Insider Homepage just below the featured article.  The ad is sold.

Right Hand Column Banner Ads – Billboard Insider runs ten 300 pixel wide by 250 pixel tall banner ads along  the right hand column of the website and at the foot of mobile versions of the website.  Two banner ads are currently open.  Contact if you wish to advertise. 


Classifieds – Classified ads can be self-placed on the website for $60 for three months or $120/year.  To place a classified click on the Place Classified Ad button on the home page.

Top Daily Newsletter Ad – This is a 675 pixel by 225 pixel header ad which appears just below the Billboard Insider title on the daily newsletter.  The ad is sold.

Podcast Sponsorship –   The podcast sponsorship includes a mention at the beginning and ending of each podcast episode, a 30 second ad in the middle of the podcast and an ad in the middle of each Billboard Insider article summarizing each podcast.  The sponsorship is sold.
