Marlin Outdoor’s Walt Czura Remembers Mike Anderson

Marlin Outdoor founder Walter Czura shares these memories of the larger than life Outdoor Image sales rep Mike Anderson, who died in January.

Mike and I were very close friends, who spoke five or even ten times a day.  He was a very colorful vinyl salesman who could draw a smile out of anyone.  He was probably the best in America at what he did. Mike’s personality was one in a million and he had a laugh that could be heard across the room.

I met Mike at a billboard conference many years ago. He had not signed up for the conference and needed a way in to the meetings. I snuck him into the main event by convincing the sign in attendant that Mike was my assistant. We laughed and joked that entire night, we continued to be great friends from that day on.

Mike was from Wisconsin.  He moved to NC years ago with his wife Kim and their two kids.

Besides being a colorful billboard salesmen he was an entertainer.  He had a rock band called the Punk Floyd project.  Mike was the lead singer and an excellent musician. He would often call me in the middle of the night singing Bob Seager or The Allman Brothers.  Mike loved to fish, and was quite good at it. He fished down here off Hilton Head with my Sales guy Will Settle a few times. I know he loved fishing in the pond behind his house.

It’s going to be a different each day not having Mikey around to bother. He had a big part in our everyday operations. I honestly miss him very much and wish the best for his family during this hard time.
