LaFoy Named Link Media CEO

Back in December Insider ran an article on the retirement of Link Media CEO Jim McLaughlin and Scott LaFoy, Head of Mergers and Acquisitions, being named interim CEO.  The Company also announced they would conduct a search process for their next CEO.  That process is now complete and the new CEO of Link Media is Scott LaFoy.  Prior to his time at Link, Scott served as General Manager for the Chattanooga division of Fairway Outdoor Advertising and owned and operated his own company, LaFoy Outdoor Advertising.  Scott also spent time with Clear Channel Outdoor, Eller Media, Universal Outdoor and Peterson Outdoor Advertising. All together, Scott LaFoy has 34 years’ experience in management of outdoor advertising businesses.

Insider caught up with Scott for a conversation about his new position and Link Media.

Scott LaFoy, CEO Link Media

What attracted you to Link in the first place?

I learned about Link and its parent Boston Omaha Corporation from Jim McLaughlin when he was first hired in 2017. I was impressed with the structure of Boston Omaha, intrigued by their deep interest in the outdoor advertising business and the long-term view they took, and I was fascinated by the chance to help build a significant new outdoor company from its early stages.

How’s the company been weathering the coronavirus?

Our technology systems allow most of us to fully function in a remote environment where we can maintain safe and healthy social distancing yet stay connected with customers and inter-company personnel. We are empathetic toward the impact on our employees, customers, landowners, suppliers, and our communities at large, and we are trying to do everything we can to help.

What are the top items on your agenda for the next 12 months?

First and foremost, steering our Company through these trying times toward a bright future when we come through it together. We believe when the economy rebounds and travel and events return, there will be strong demand for our services, and Link will be there ready to help. Secondly, Link is fully committed to continuing our growth plans. We are open for business and seeking attractive acquisition opportunities with both large and small companies. If there are any operators out there who are interested in selling plants or markets or land easements under structures, I would love to speak with them. They can call me today. Lastly, Link is committed to developing the most profitable company in our industry, and that objective will drive us over the next 12 months and way beyond!
