Laist and Los Angeles Times report that there are dueling initiates which would impact billboards, parking fees and taxes in Inglewood. Inglewood Residents for Stadum Accountability, which is funded by WOW Media and WOW Media CEO Scott Krantz is seeking petition signatures for an initiative to cap SoFi stadium parking rates at $20 and eliminate tax limits on event tickets. Neighbors for Beautiful Inglewood which is funded by Forum Entertainment and Hollywood Park (the owners of SoFi Stadium) is pushing a ballot initiative to reduce or eliminate the city’s exclusive contract for digital billboards with WOW Media.
We suspect the ballot initiatives stem from bad blood surrounding a $400 million lawsuit which SoFi filed against the city of Inglewood for failing to live up to a development agreement. SoFi’s owners have contended that Inglewood’s 2025 agreement with WOW Media permitted digital billboards in the vicinity of Hollywood park and SoFi stadium which may negatively hurt advertising relationships.
Billboard Insider’s take: We’re not sure anyone wins in this dispute between two companies which want to sell advertising on their signs and billboards. We are surprised that WOW agreed to run the ad shown in the picture. It’s bad design. Too many words. To many images. Unreadable small print. No single message.
