Legacy Outdoor was formed by the merger of USA Outdoor and CK Outdoor.  The company owns over 1,200 posters, bulletins and digital billboards in Arkansas,, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota.  The company is owned by the Hilliard family.  In November 2023 Legacy purchased 361 signs in Missouri and Arkansas. The company’s account execs are Sue Pace, Jasmine Ratzlaff, Amber Watson and Megan Wicks.  Billboard Insider talked to Legacy’s CEO Mark S Liljehorn

How has the integration of your 2023 acquisition gone?

It is going great.  The two families that sold us the plant were really good to work with.  It was a good plant and solid structures. We did some light upgrades and got to know the clientele.  It’s companies we’ve never worked with before. I was able to  hire two sales people who live in Arkansas so they they are well known in the area.  We kept one of the the previous owners on as an employee he’s a regional operations manager now so he knows the area and he knows the structures very well. We were able to keep the install crew that they utilized as part of the purchase as well and it’s running like a well oiled machine.

What are your tips for people on how to find and keep good installers?

I had success by raising the rate I’d pay a little bit.  It brought in a lot more applicants.  It’s crazy how that little bit does make a difference…then it it was sifting through them and finding the applicants that are on time to the to the interview .  We run background checks and insurance checks and and we require a drug screen.  There are still guys who who are willing to work.

What are some of your objectives for the next year?   

We’d like to make more acquisitions. We want to grow by at least 200 more faces over this next year.  We would like to do some digital conversions. We did 2 last week and  we’ve got 5 digital conversions on the schedule for this this the rest of this year.
