Blackbelt Outdoor was founded in 2014 by Dunkin Allred. Since then Blackbelt Outdoor has expanded into five counties throughout the central portion of Alabama. They offer both traditional and digital displays.
Insider had a chance for an interview with Dunkin Allred, President of Blackbelt Outdoor at the IBOUSA Convention.
Since we talked last year, can you provide us a description of your billboard plant and operations?
Hi John, nice to speak with you again.We have experienced some growth since the last time we spoke. We’ve added about 20 static faces and a couple more digital boards to our inventory. We now have over 40 static and 8 digital faces to offer in 5 counties in Central AL. Not only has our business experienced some growth, but our family has too. We had our first child in December, Ellis Anne Allred.
What are your goals for the next twelve months?
We plan on getting my wife, Martha, more involved in the daily operations so that I can focus on sales and growing the business.
We also talked about a recent Apparatix installation you had completed. Any updates on how the operating system is working?
Yes, Apparatix has been a real game changer. It has allowed me to manage a workload efficiently that otherwise would have been very difficult to do. The system is still operating very smoothly. The service that they offer is second to none.
We are together this week at the IBOUSA convention in Jacksonville. Can you give us your thoughts on why the IBOUSA is important to you and to Blackbelt Outdoor?
IBOUSA is an excellent group that I am fortunate to be a part of. It has been an excellent networking opportunity. Chris Cowlbeck and the rest of the folks always do an exceptional job putting together a great group of speakers and events that help me stay up to date with latest industry trends and technology. Oh, and they are a lot of fun too!

Dunkin Allred, is in a neighborhing State, calls me up one day, has one of his century’s that would like an ad in Mississippi. Within 24 hours this “new customer” signed a year long deal. Presently I have pictched some of his “Digital” inventory to one of our Mississippi Brands and we are waiting on an answer. This act of kindness, not even knowing me. In my opinion, this is how independents work together and respect one another! I personally pray that the “Outdoor Adversting Industray” would take on values like this young man starting out in business with his Beautiful Family! This “act” encouges me, that not all of our Industary is about hurting a company from developing. We could all use a dose of “Humilty” me included. Great job Duncan, CONGULATION, first on that Awasome Addition, a blessing from God and secondly for beening a friend first; reaching out to help your customer, when you couldn’t and I could.
