A Static Build With a 44% Return on Investment

Static billboard with a 44% return on investment.

Insider’s not the only one that likes static builds.  Grey Outdoor’s Grey Vick is a fan as well.  This recently built static billboard is generating a 44% return on investment.

Project:  200 square ft, two sided, steel, monopole billboard.  3′ by 16′ hole wet drilled.
Cost: $20,000 complete with lights.
Monthly Revenue:  $1,000/month  ($500 per face) or $12,000/year.
Land rent: $2400/year
Illumination: $350/year w LED Lights on sunset to sunrise
Taxes & permits: $350/year
Annual billboard cashflow: $8,900
Return on investment: 44% consisting of cashflow of $8,900 divided by cost of $20,000.
Vick’s comments: I would value one individual sign a little less than 10x billboard cashflow…at a super conservative 5x net billboard cash flow,  the sign is worth $44,500 or twice my investment…I view any sign I build or purchase as if I am going to own it forever and have a real long term approach to owning and investing in the signs.

  1. Who fabricated the structure?

  2. Hey Grey and Dave. I like the math. Very good numbers. But I would suggest running the lights from sunset to sunrise, haha.

  3. Selective Strucures Fabricated this board.
