X-Mark Outdoor Sells to Media Choice

Insider was aware that Steve & Sue Sullins, owners of X-Mark Outdoor in Corsicana TX and long time friends of the industry, were looking for a buyer for their billboard plant. That sale was recently finalized and we had a chance to talk with Steve about the transaction and his time in the industry.

Steve, When did you complete your sale and who did you sell to?

Our family sold X-Mark Outdoor last month to Acme Partnership LLC of Austin Texas. They do business as Media Choice and are owned by Curtis Ford.

How many structures did you sell and where were they located?

At the time of the sale X-Mark Outdoor assets consisted of 100 plus static and digital faces in Texas and a few digital faces in the Chicago DMA.

I understand you appreciated the representation and guidance you and Sue received through the sales process?

Paul Wright of SignValue was a value-added counselor and broker in the process. I very much appreciated the opportunity to work with Paul on the sale.

Any thoughts on your season with X-Mark and your time in the Outdoor industry?
As we look back at the last several years reflecting on the out-of-home media sector of the industry it has definitely made progress in being more responsive in the contest for media dollars.

Looking forward the future appears positive due to two organizations and leaders in the field:

  • Independent Billboard Operators (IBO) with the leadership of Chris Cowlbeck has brought synergism, collaboration and fresh thinking to the industry. New technology, new initiatives with a “Get It Done” mentality.
  • And a robust complimentary software (Apparatix) developed  by John James is driving efficiencies that were previously unavailable for small and medium size OOH companies.

Lastly I have really enjoyed and benefited from the friendships and colleagues in the industry.

It has been a good ride.
