WV Outdoor is an established and family owned OOH operation serving West Virginia. They recently started a search for a new President/ CEO and Insider spoke with Steve Halpin about the position.
I understand the reason for the search for a new President for WV Outdoor is a sad one?
Due to the untimely death of Wade Leslie, the company is looking to hire a new President/CEO. Wade was a true leader in the OOH advertising industry, and for WV Outdoor for over 20 years. He loved and understood all aspects of the business, and was an excellent teacher and leader for the company. Wade is sorely missed by all that knew him.
Tell us about WV Outdoor’s billboard plant territory and operation?
WV Outdoor was founded in 1929 by John Vickers Ray, and has been providing outdoor advertising to national, regional and local advertisers ever since. WV Outdoor is currently the largest independently owned outdoor billboard company in West Virginia, with over 1,400 faces throughout West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky and Maryland.
Where are you headquartered?
The main office is located in Poca, WV, just outside of Charleston, WV.
What are you expecting from your new President?
WV Outdoor currently has a strong and motivated sales and operations team: we are looking for an individual that can lead that team in both daily operations, as well as long-term vision. The ideal candidate would have a broad background in the OOH industry, excellent leadership skills, strong communication skills, and a true desire to excel. Currently, two great grandchildren of our founder are employed in the company, so the ideal candidate should have demonstrated success in mentoring.
