Who Makes What at the Public Out of Home Companies

Here’s a listing of who makes what at the three largest US public out of home companies in 2023.

Lamar’s execs were the only group to see increased compensation in 2023.  This is as it should be.   The stock did well, cashflow is at record highs and Lamar has an enterprise value which is almost twice as much as OUTFRONT or Clear Channel Outdoor.  The two highest paid execs in the out of home industry should be Sean Reilly and Jay Johnson.

Clear Channel Channel Outdoor execs saw single digit decreases in compensation.  Clear Channel stock rallied during 2023 but this was off a base which had declined nearly 80% from 2018 to 2022.

OUTFRONT’s execs saw double digit decreases in salaries due to lagging financial performance.  Three of the top five paid out of home execs are from OUTFRONT even though it’s smaller than Lamar or Clear Channel Outdoor.  Perhaps its because OUTFRONT is based in New York where costs are higher.  Look at the pay ratio calculation below.  The pay ratio which consist of CEO compensation divided by the media employee salary.  The median pay ratio for the S&P 500 was 187 to 1.    OUTFRONT has the lowest pay radio of the public out of home companies because OUTFRONT employees have higher median salaries.
