Outdoor posters is a large format vinyl printer located in Hixson Tennessee.  The company was started in 1981.  Insider talked with plant manager Robert Neeley.

Robert, how did you get into the printing business?

My name is Robert Neeley. I started in outdoor in 1986. I was in electronics school. A guy that I worked for in high school at a pet store also was co-owner of a company called UniSign which is in Eastern Kentucky. He called one day and asked if I would be interested in working for him at Unisign. I really wasn’t, I wanted to stay in school, but I was married and had a baby girl. I’m a firm believer in not burning bridges so I told him I would come in and talk with him about it. I talked with my wife and told her that I was going to ask for a high salary and benefits. I knew that the owners of Unisign would not agree with it. I met with both owners and told them what it would take for me to leave school to start selling outdoor and on-premise signs. They agreed to everything I asked for. I was almost broken hearted. I withdrew from school and started in the industry and it has been in my blood ever since.

Tell us about your plant.

We are in Hixson TN which is just outside of Chattanooga.  Our plant is 20,000 square feet and all our machines are HPs.

What are your target markets?

Our target markets are mainly mid-south and southeastern, but we do have clients in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. Of course, we will ship to anywhere in the United States.
