TEXT AND DRIVE?

Insider just saw a post from Global News in Canada that might be worth some conversation. A billboard in Toronto along the Gardiner Expressway is drawing attention from motorists because of its message telling them to “text and drive.”  The billboard says it is put up by Wathan Funeral Homes but Wathan is not a real funeral home and when you click the link to their site you will see what they are up to.

The object is to actually prevent texting while driving. The web site developer is hoping that by driving those curious enough to see who Wathan Funeral Home is that they will learn the following:

  • Texting and driving is projected to kill more people in Ontario this year than drinking and driving
  • While most people wouldn’t even think about drinking and driving, over half of Ontario drivers admit to reading texts while behind the wheel
  • that learning this should make you even madder than their billboard did.

Insider’s Take:  It’s worth linking to the news clip above and seeing the sign itself.  It seems to be getting a lot of attention in the Toronto area both positive and negative. Wondering how our readers would feel about posting this ad on their inventory?
