Tammy Dudley on Running the Tennessee Outdoor Association

Tammy Dudley was recently hired at the CEO/Executive Director of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Tennessee.  Insider talked with her to learn about the state association.

How did you get into the out of home industry

I spent 13 years in the broadcast industry before becoming the Sales Manager at Fairway Outdoor over the Chattanooga, TN market in May of last year. I had sold against the billboard industry but began to see a decline in the broadcast industry over the past few years. TV viewership was framenting so I felt it was time to look into other career options. The OOH industry was one that quickly caught my attention because it was one that seemed to be ever evolving, while other forms of media were declining! The OOH industry is very strong right now and gaining strength daily.  Media buys are drastically changing and OOH is taking up a larger percentage of the overall media budget than it ever has. It’s a very exciting time to be in the industry!

Tell us about the Outdoor Advertising Association of Tennessee (OAAT)

I am very excited to be the CEO/Executive Director for the OAAT! I am working hard to give the OOH industry a collaborative voice across the state of Tennessee and to become a valued resource for the industry.

During the last 2 weeks, the OAAT and the TBI worked together to launch 121 billboards across the state of Tennessee within 3 hours of the alert going out for the wanted Fugitive Curtis Wilson. This is the first of many initiatives that the OAAT plans to spearhead for the out of home industry. The OAAT plans to bring the OOH community together with the strength of their digital assets to alert the community of Amber Alerts, FBI and TBI Alerts, Weather alerts and more!

We plan to take the OAAT to another level! We are drawing in more members weekly, have set up our social media pages, and are getting our PSA efforts underway. We are currently working with all of our members to launch our website, which will be oaatn.com. We expect it to be live in the next 60 days. Big changes from the OAAT will be coming over the course of the next few months!  Our social media links are:
