Rate This Board by Greg Callaham

Rate This Board allows a billboard designer to rate a random piece of billboard artwork using the following scale: 1 (not good), 2 (below average), 3 (average), 4 (very good), 5 (great). Then the designer talks about what they may have done differently for outdoor advertising. This week’s rating is provided by Greg Callaham www.gregcallaham.com) who has 30 years of experience in outdoor advertising design.  Insider has used and endorses Callaham’s services.

Jackson Hole

Rating: 5 (great)

  • It’s always a treat when outdoor advertising is done well. It draws the eye, entertains the mind, informs about a product or service, and becomes a memory for the target audience. To give prospects the opportunity to literally immerse themselves in the ad takes outdoor advertising to the next level.
  • Pedestrians see is a headline cleverly encouraging them to go out and play in snow. I would have made the logo bigger or red on that panel, but it’s legible so I’m not deducting points.
  • The idea to transform the bus bench into a ski lift chair is genius. By sitting on the bench, ordinary citizens become part of the ad when viewed by others.
  • The mountains in the background add to the illusion and become almost an “endorsement” of the vacation destination. Jackson Hole should be very happy with the creative professional who conceived and developed this idea. It earns a 5 (great).
