Rate This Ad allows a billboard designer to rate a random piece of billboard artwork using the following scale: 1 (not good), 2 (below average), 3 (average), 4 (very good), 5 (great). Then the designer talks about what they may have done differently for outdoor advertising. This week’s rating is provided by Wes Frick of Wes Frick Design.

  • This billboard location is partially hidden for about half of the time that you look at it but the company that designed it did a really good job of utilizing that to their advantage by making a reveal effect.
  • This billboard is very legible and has high contrast as well
  • They used mystery to their advantage because it gets your attention as it reveals itself.  Here’s video showing how the sign reveals itself as you drive by.
