Rate This Ad By Wes Frick

Rate This Ad allows a billboard designer to rate a random piece of billboard artwork using the following scale: 1 (not good), 2 (below average), 3 (average), 4 (very good), 5 (great). Then the designer talks about what they may have done differently for outdoor advertising. This week’s rating is provided by Wes Frick of Wes Frick Design.
End Child Sex Trafficking
Rating: 2 (below average)
  • The goal of the digital billboard is to end child sex trafficking in all 50 states. I agree, this should not be a thing, and I personally will be happy to help anyone needing billboards promoting the end of sex trafficking of all kinds.
  • The artwork simply has too much going on. It works up close, but not from far away.
  • The emotional appeal of the ad is not strong, and in out of home, you’ll need to pull at heartstrings to get people motivated to take action.
Here is an alternative that I came up with. This concept is very loud & heartstring pulling, but the intent would be for people to rise up and do something about it.
