Jack Lipscomb, RIP

Jack Lipscomb 1927-2024

Billboard pioneer Jack Lipscomb died on January 4, 2024. In 1958 Jack was asked to run Pioneer Advertising Company for Lester E. Cox and eventually bought the company and grew it to cover nearly half the state of Missouri with billboards. Jack served as Chairman for the OAAA Legislative Committee. He was awarded the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) Hall of Fame award in 1993.

Stu Lipscomb tells Billboard Insider: “My grandfather passed away last week. He was an OAAA Hall of Fame inductee and a long time industry leader. He helped shaped the legislation in DC and advocated for the industry during the Lady Bird Johnson Act. I don’t know how many industry individuals will remember him at this point but he loved the billboard business and that’s why I got into it.”

Larry Lipscomb adds: “I was so fortunate to be able to work with my father for 25 years. So many OAAA and TAB conventions with my wife and my parents. He loved the industry and lobbied hard to protect it.”
