Healthcare Options for OOH Workers and Independent Contractors

Chris Cowlbeck General Manager Look Billboards and Independent Billboard Operators USA

On yesterday’s Billboard Insider podcast Chris Cowlbeck reviewed the steps IBO is taking to provide healthcare solutions for independent operators and out of home contractors.

What are you doing with healthcare for the out of home industry.

There’s a huge need for this…Many of our operators have independent contractors…They just don’t qualify to be part of any of these plans…We were able to do that and roll it out successfully last year and it was the first healthcare program for a trade association since Obama care…It’s a good program structured like the old days…there’s pre-existing conditions, there’s lifetime caps…because we’re generally an older population in out of home…we’ve had to make some harder choices.  We won’t cover pregnancy as an example.  These are tough business decisions that you have to make…in order to provide a favorable price…We announced an additional plan B that has no preexisting conditions and is age banded…No deductibles and no preexisting conditions…I set the program up so it would touch anybody in our industry.  So if you have a posting installer, if you have an electrician, you have lawn mowing and tree trimming guys, you have an ad agency in your town, or you have a designer, you as the billboard operator can make it available to them…
