Grit and Outdoor Advertising.

Angela Lee Duckworth says that grit is more important than IQ in separating successful people from people who struggle.  She says top performers are willing to fail and do not consider failure as a permanent condition.  Here’s her 6 minute Ted talk.

  • Grit is 20 year old college grad Justin Powell deciding to start a billboard business in the middle of the great recession in order to have a job.  6 years later Huntington Outdoor has over 50 structures.
  • Grit is the Roger Nastase of Sign Doctor Advertising and Maintenance going into the planning department of a Montana municipality to ask for the sign code.  The person behind the desk said “we don’t allow billboards.”  Grit is Roger’s response: “Did I ask you?”  Today Roger has 112 faces in Montana with more on the way.
