Eccleshare: The second wave of the virus is not as scary as the first.

Clear Channel Outdoor Worldwide CEO William Eccleshare, Americas CEO Scott Wells and CFO Brian Coleman appeared at this weeks Wells Fargo TMT conference.  Some highlights.

Eccleshare is optimistic about the future.

We continue to be optimistic about the resilience of the business because there the lockdowns have been less significant…our audiences have been out on the street and advertisers have been back in the market…It’s nothing like as scary as the second quarter.  We’ve had some weeks which have been performing at or better than the prior year in a number of European markets, in the US as well.

Eccleshare expects a return to normal in the last half of 2021

We should expect the first quarter will continue to have its challenges…The vaccine will not be universally delivered by the first of January 2021…I think we will start to see some strong recovery in Q2.  I’m really focused…on the second half…of the year.

Assets Sales are off the table till 2021.

This is a next year topic…People just want to get through this year.  You need a quarter of normality “before you get into a sensitive valuation mentality…If there are conversations to be had they will be had in the second half of 2021.”
