Driverless Car Week in Review

The design chief at Mercedes-Benz says  autonomous cars are overhyped: “It’s a bit hyped.  It’s like with electric cars.  Everybody had electric cars and it looked like everyone would drive electric cars tomorrow and I think autonomy is like that.”

The San Francisco Chronicle says city leaders are rethinking the need for downtown parking lots if more people elect to use autonomous cars and uber.  Insider wonders if fewer parking lots and more tall buildings could put some spectaculars and wall installations at risk.

Apple and Google have abandoned autonomous car manufacturing plans to focus instead on autonomous software.  Insider expects Google to try  to find a way to project google maps (including ads) onto car windshields.

Ad Age doesn’t think driverless cars will be a ad goldmine for inside the car screen advertising.  Does the screen in a taxi divert your attention away from checking emails or do you mute it like Insider does?
