In February 2026 Daniel Maxwell became the Executive Director of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Georgia (“OAAG”). The OAAG is an effective state industry association with many members. Billboard Insider has had the privilege of presenting at a past OAAG conference. We interviewed Maxwell to learn what’s new in Georgia.

Daniel, tell us about your background and how you got involved in out of home advertising.
I became Executive Director of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Georgia (OAAG) in February 2026. Before this, I served as Special Assistant to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. That role gave me a close look at how state government, industry, and public policy intersect -experience that has translated directly into representing OAAG’s members before the legislature and state agencies. I graduated from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business (BBA, Management, Class of 2024), and I stay involved with UGA through the Young Alumni Leadership Council and on the Institute for Leadership Advancement’s Alumni Advisory Board at Terry. Out of home advertising technically found me through government affairs, but I’ve come to appreciate it as an industry that’s simultaneously old-school in its craft and increasingly cutting-edge in its technology and data.
Are there any out-of-home related issues in Georgia right now?
Nothing pressing at the moment, but that’s why we stay engaged. OAAG keeps a close eye on the regulatory and legislative landscape year-round, monitoring everything from transportation rules and regulations to how our members’ work intersects with state agencies, ensuring we stay ahead. We’re also spending time strengthening OAAG’s foundation and building relationships with partner organizations across the state, so the association is well-positioned to represent members proactively whenever an issue does arise.
I hear you’ve got an out-of-home conference coming up in October. Tell us more.
The OAAG 2026 Conference will run from October 5–7 at the JW Marriott Plant Riverside District in Savannah, Georgia. We have a strong speaker and guest lineup, including the Georgia DOT, Savannah Mayor Van Johnson, Mike Hershey of the OAAA, friends in the Georgia General Assembly, and more. We’ll also present the OAAG Lifetime Achievement Award. It’s shaping up to be a great gathering for anyone in the Georgia OOH industry – or anyone curious about where it’s headed.
