Daktronics CEO Ramesh Jayaraman was interviewed on Marketbeat. Some of the highlights.
Where he came from
Born in India. Lived in just very different parts of the world. My dad was in manufacturing so we got to travel the entire world…came to Business School to the US and you know I ended up…working in US corporations for a very long time that took us both here and across the world and my last role was in Minneapolis area I ran a global business out of the Minneapolis area and the opportunity for Daktronics came up and this is just been a dream come true
When you look up you see Daktronics
Daktronics has integrated LED super systems in more than half of all professional sports facilities in the United States and Canada as well as more than 70% of college facilities. There’s also significant growth in transportation projects including a major upgrade at Los Angeles International airport. Look up and you’ll see that Daktronics…if you go to a sports stadium…when you drove down from Sioux Falls here the highway that you went in the speed signs, the transportation signs are ours…when you start looking at the airports, Sioux Falls airport, any big airports…the way finding stuff on the outside is ours. When you start going down the highway and start looking at the advertising…we play a big part …that’s where I say when you look up you’ll see Daktronics.
A strong balance sheet
We are a company with no debt. We are sitting on $150 million cash position. That reallty allows us to think beyond in terms of what we can buy, what we can acquire
