The original Sanford Media Group was founded by Charles Sanford “Sandy” McKague in 1977 out of Barrie Ontario, operating over 300 displays such as Billboards (Poster Panels), Highway Superboards, Transit Shelter, Bus Bench and Mall Unit advertising, throughout Central Ontario. Sanford Media was the largest independent outdoor advertising operators in Canada at that time. When Sanford Media was sold, the sons carried on in various capacities within the industry. With Sandy passing away in 1990, his sons Mike & Brian, always wanted to carry on the family legacy.

In honor of Sandy, a decision was made in 2019 to resurrect the “Sanford” brand, with a focus on Digital Outdoor Displays and thus Sanford Outdoor was formed. They currently own and operate 75 digital faces in the province of Ontario.
