New South Outdoor operates a billboard plant in Alabama and Tennessee. We talked with New South Founder and President Neil Bell.
What’s new since we talked a year or two ago?Lots of new. I think it has been almost two years since we were company of the day and since then, we have built 21 new digital displays bringing our total to 44. We also added over 100 static displays during that time. We rebranded at the begining of this year, brought on two additional sales people, an operations manager, and someone to specificly address customer retention. It continues to be fun and I have an amazing team who really seem to love working in this industry.
What’s on your mind right now?
Managing growth. Some of the way we have done things worked when we were smaller, but now we have grown to a point where we need to reevaluate a number of things. The software we use, the procedures we have, and how we interact with our customers are all items that we are assessing and working to improve.
Are you using any of the automated sales platforms? What’s been your experience?
We are just now dipping our toes back in to the programmatic world. I have not made any of my inventory available for the last 4-5 years, but I am optimistic that the platforms have come a long way in attracting buyers. Ask me again in a year.
