Tell us about the history of Meadow Outdoor

We got into the business in 1968 when Joe Zukin bought Cleaveland Outdoor in Merced California. In 1981 we bought Honald Inc in The Dalles, Oregon which was the beginning of our current plant.

You have structures in four states.

We now have 1,000+ faces in 4  states: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California. We have historically been a 100% a bulletin plant.

You have a strong commitment to the outdoor associations.  What are your thoughts on the importance of associations?

We are a member of the OAAA, the IBOUSA and the Oregon Outdoor Advertising Association. We learned early that a united industry has a much more powerful voice than any individual company. We also have learned a lot in our interaction with other outdoor companies.

How has covid impacted your company.

Obviously there was much uncertainty and concern in March and April. We worked with our advertisers to help them through that time , yet still maintain their  heritage locations. We are now experiencing high renewal numbers and very strong new sales. Billboards work!

You installed a digital in Ontario Oregon in 2019.  How’s the sign doing and what have you learned?

That digital in Ontario is doing great. We learned that we want more digitals. We put up number 4 in Hermiston, Oregon last month and have Numbers 5 and 6 on the drawing board.
