Chad Harris on Social Media and SEO Marketing

Sales reps are the best way to market your billboards.  But what about social media marketing or SEO/website marketing?  Las Vegas Billboards has 24 Daktronics digital faces in Las Vegas.  Harris was asked about marketing on last week’s Daktronics experience podcast and here’s what he said:

About a year ago we did a trial run with social media and a lot of advertising…One thing we don’t do on our digital signs is self promos…The reason is we give that available space back to our clients as added value.  So my thought was since we’re not using our own billboards lets look at using social media channels…we got a lot of looky-loos.  People that are interested in what we do.  Not necessarily people with budget…So we spent a year with social media.  It did not go that well with us.  So this past year we’re spending more money with our SEO and our website, improving our web site.  That’s another sales person on the street.  A virtual sales person.  We’re getting better traffic.
