Boston Issues RFP for Street Furniture

Boston has issued an RFP to upgrade and expand the Boston’s street furniture program.  Proposals are due November 4, 2026.

The incumbent JCDecaux is in the last year of a 25 year contract.  JCDecaux maintains 481 faces on bus shelters, city information panels, newsstands and automatic public toilets.   Here are details of the current contract taken from JC Decaux’s 2025 report to Boston.

  • There is an annual fixed payment of $1.5 million which was paid in March 2026.
  • There is an annual percentage fee fee of 10-15% of annual gross revenues, depending on the type of structure.  JCDecaux paid a percentage fee of $1.2 million in March 2026.
  • JCDecaux gives the city 12.5% of the space on the panels for public messages.
