Billboard Vandalism

Some recent cases of billboard vandalism.  This month a pro-life billboard ad run by Pro-Life Michiana in South Bend Indiana was spray painted.  In September 2019 four bench advertisements for unplanned pregnancy resources were vandalized and in December  benches advertising options for mothers were vandalized.

Climate activists in Australia are breaking into JCDecaux bus shelters and replacing the advertisements with posters for climate change.

How do you mitigate billboard  vandalism?  Meadow Outdoor’s Chris Zukin says to post reward notices, fix the damage rapidly, install anti climbing devices and replace your locks.    You can also install a Smartlink intruder detection system.

It’s harder to control vandalism at transit shelters.  They are accessible at street level.  Public ad campaign sells the tools to break into transit shelters.  They have an interactive world map where you click on the city and they sell you a “sculpture” which just happens to look like the tool you need to break into that city’s transit shelters.
