How do you define out of home?

OAAA President & CEO Anna Bager was asked to define out of home on the June 30 R&B SmallBiz Show and she said this:

Out of home advertising?  When I get the question what it is I usually say that it’s everything that’s not supported by media…any form of advertising that is not surrounded by media content.  The ad is the actual content…it’s billboards but it’s also transit, subway or buses it includes street furniture such as bus shelters or kiosks, there’s something called placed based which is options like retail and office space, stadium, movie theaters, elevators, shopping malls, point of care…It’s pretty much any form of advertising that’s not attached to media.
