A Use For Old Vinyls

Billboard Vinyl in use as roofing material.

FEMA and the IBOUSA are collaborating on a program to repurpose billboard vinyls.  Here are the details.

Who are the participants?

  • IBOUSA
  • Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA)
  • National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD)
  • American Logistics Aid Network (ALANaid)
  • Everyshelter
  • Billboard companies.
  • What do I do with my vinyl?

Why does FEMA want vinyl?

Vinyl provides a quick and durable way to make temporary repairs to a roof or structure.

What kinds of vinyl?

Bulletin vinyls.  PE or PVC.

How does the program work

If there is a drop-off location close to you you can drop off the vinyl there.  IBOUSA is working on shipment plans when there are no drop-off locations nearby.  The vinyl is shipped to 15 FEMA storage facilities in Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama Florida or New York.

What are the benefits to me as an operator.

  • Operators can get a tax credit of $50 per donated vinyl.
  • You are contributing to the OOH industry’s effort to develop sustainable business practices.

How can I learn more.
