Upper Midwest Road Trip

Insider drove 583 miles  in the upper midwest midwest this week.   First leg: Minneapolis airport to Alexandria, Minnesota to meet with investors.  Insider saw a Minneapolis billboard with a Naegele nameplate.  When will the plate be changed?  Lots of Franklin Outdoor boards on the way to Alexandria off I-94.  And lots and lots of snow.   Insider has new respect for the crews of Franklin Outdoor and Mortenson, Avery  and the crews of the big four (Lamar, Outfront, Clear Channel and Fairway) who work in these conditions.

The next morning Insider headed for South Dakota on blue highways.  This was poster country controlled by Lamar.

Expect some interesting things from Daktronics during 2017.  Thanks to Daktronics Marketing Manager Joni Schmeichel, for the coffee cup and phone charger!

That afternoon Insider drove three hours past Avery, CK Outdoor, Lamar and Fairway boards to inspect a sign he has for sale in Clear Lake, Iowa.  It’s the best sign in the market but Insider would like to sell to focus on the Indianapolis billboards he just bought from Fairway/Clear Channel.  Check the classifieds for the details on the Clear Lake sign or email insider using the form at the bottom of this post.

 

A two hour drive from Clear Lake to Minneapolis airport the last morning.  Fairway has a huge market share from Albert Lea to Minneapolis but Insider also saw boards by Young, Supreme and Schubert and Hoey, Outfront and Clear Channel.
