Opposition to Signs on I-280 in San Mateo County

seal-headerInsider wrote on 3/25/16 and 3/14/16  that San Mateo County is studying the feasibility of putting billboards on county land to raise money for the county’s budget.  The SM Daily Journal reported Monday that the County is not seriously thinking about billboards on I-280, Middlefield Road or El Camino Real.  The only potential billboard possibilities are small pockets of county land on Highway 101, a parcel at 101/woodside Road, the Maple Street Correctional Center, the vacant Women’s Correctional Center and San Carlos Airport.

Insider’s take: more and more communities are looking to generate cash to fund budgets by allowing billboards on city property.
