Rate This Ad allows a billboard designer to rate a random piece of billboard artwork using the following scale: 1 (not good), 2 (below average), 3 (average), 4 (very good), 5 (great). Then the designer talks about what they may have done differently for outdoor advertising. This week’s rating is provided by Wes Frick of Wes Frick Design.
Nova Urgent Care
Rating: 3 (average)
- Nova knows their local demographic, active weekend warriors who enjoy the great outdoors in the area. It’s good for a brand to use imagery similar to their environment for a local feel.
- Terrific high resolution image & vector logos.
- The key concept – open on Saturdays – needs more play.
- This billboard works up close but not from afar. I’d increase the size of the font, logo, and now open Saturdays.
- The idea is solid but the elements need to be more prominent.
Here’s how I would improve the ad. I used a similar image and rearranged the words to be more prominent.
