Transit Billboards Get Sophisticated

Mass Transit Magazine has an article by Intersection’s Jeff Maki on Intersection’s partnership with transit authorities to use digital displays in MTA subway stations for interactive wayfinding and to provide arrival information.

Location based advertising is coming to transit ads as well as conventional billboards.  The Times of London has an article talking about geo-targeted digital screens which are being installed on the sides of London buses.  The advertising on the screens changes based on what street the bus drives on.

Insider’s take:  The London bus experiment is intriguing.  Contextual ads should generate a higher ROI for advertisers.
