OP Outdoor promotions operates over 800 bus shelters including 600 shelters in the Denver metro and 200 shelters in Salt Lake City. Billboard Insider talked with Jake Mansfeld, the company’s General Manager
Tell us about the company’s history
Our company started in Northern Colorado in 1999. Started in Denver in 2004. The company began with the positioning of a transit amenity service offering to local municipalities. Since that time, we’ve grown to include the entire Denver metro area (16 unique municipalities ) as well as our Utah markets. After establishing our inventory footprint, we’ve repositioned ourselves to an advertising sales company. We work with both local and national advertisers. We have a local and national sales team.
What’s new over the past year?
We are seeing big success/ interest in our new bus shelter product offering : a “Full House” takeover. The Full House bus shelter advertising format expands traditional transit advertising by combining two standard ad panels with a third, floor-to-ceiling back panel installed on the rear of the shelter. The larger display creates a bold, high-impact presence, giving advertisers significantly more space for creative messaging and branding. We even offer the option to paint them a custom color. Positioned at eye level just feet from the street, the Full House format delivers billboard-like visibility while reaching audiences in urban and suburban locations where traditional billboards may not be available.

What are some of your objectives for the coming year
- Expand and Strengthen National and Regional Agency Partnerships (Revenue Growth) – Develop new relationships and deepen existing partnerships with national and regional media agencies to increase awareness, consideration, and utilization of OP’s advertising inventory.
- Advance Shelter Refurbishment and Infrastructure Improvements (Asset investment) – Continue the strategic planning and execution of a market-by-market refurbishment and improvement program across our existing shelter network. Prioritize the maintenance, modernization, and long-term sustainability of more than 600 shelter structures across 17 municipalities, including structures that have been in service for over 20 years.
- Identify and Pursue New Market Expansion Opportunities Across Colorado (Business expansion) – Evaluate and pursue opportunities to expand OP Outdoor’s presence into additional small and underserved Colorado markets, creating new revenue opportunities while growing our geographic footprint.
