One of the valuable uses of digital billboards is that they can be used for public announcements.  TJ Bugbee, the executive director of the North Carolina Outdoor Advertising association tells Billboard Insider that the North Carolina Outdoor Advertising Association and the Outdoor Advertising Association of Virginia ran public announcements to assist in the search for two inmates who escaped from the Vance County Detention Center.  The inmates were captured after 4 days on the run
