Lamar Advertising Company, one of the largest outdoor advertising companies in the world, is using its national billboard network to spotlight Service Dogs, Inc., a long-standing Texas-based non-profit that trains and provides service dogs to Texans living with significant challenges.
The partnership formed after a deaf Lamar Advertising employee received a free Hearing Dog from the organization.
“McGruff keeps me safe by alerting me to important sounds like the smoke alarm, oven timer, and even someone calling my name,” says Ann Ruckstuhl, Office Manager at Lamar Advertising of Corpus Christi. “Service Dogs, Inc. trained him for me at no charge, so of course, I wanted to do something to give back to this great organization.”

Digital billboards are already on display in Austin, Midland, Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio and Victoria with additional locations to come in from Corpus Christi, Abilene, Amarillo and Lubbock.
“We’ve opened up applications for 2026,” said Sheri Soltes, Founder and CEO of Service Dogs, Inc. “These billboards are already raising awareness of our organization and encouraging people to apply for Service Dogs. We are so grateful to Ann and Lamar!”
“The folks at Lamar constantly amaze me with their kindness and generosity,” Ruckstuhl added. “And they can see what a blessing McGruff has been to me.”
Established in 1988, Service Dogs, Inc. trains Service Dogs free of charge as working partners for wounded veterans and others living with disabilities. Applications are now open for 2026 placements.
