More on the T-Mobile Purchase

Yesterday Billboard reported that T-Mobile is paying $600 million to purchase Vistar Media. T-Mobile set up an advertising business call T Advertising Solutions or T-Ads in 2021 following the $32 million purchase of the mobile advertising tool provider Pushspring.    In January 2022 T-Mobile acquired Octopus Interactive a rideshare ad platform.  T-Ads is run by Jean-Paul Colaco.  Here’s what T-Mobile said on social media about the Vistar purchase.

Billboard Insider’s Take:    Looks to Billboard Insider like T-Mobile just bought a server to power the digital screens at T-Mobile’s 2,000 retail locations but more importantly, to power the ad platform which T-mobile is marketing to advertisers.   We remain skeptical that an advertising business owned by a mobile phone company will thrive.  In the words of Mother Goose, “One thing at a time, and that done well, is a very fine thing, as many can tell.”   What do you think of T-Mobile’s purchase of Vistar?  Email davewestburg@billboardinsider.com and we’ll run a followup post
