Durden Outdoor Displays operates a marketing network of 1,000 billboards, posters and digital displays across Southern Alabama and Northern Florida.  The company is an operator associate of the IBOUSA.

In 1959 Earl Durden began working for his cousin Foy Ready at the “Heart of Dothan” hotel in downtown Dothan, Alabama. 2 years later, cousin Foy decided to buy a local sign business to service his motel billboards & signs. In May of 1968 he created “Earl Durden Signs” along Route 1 in Ashford, Alabama.  Durden built 40 structures which he sold in 1972.

In 1973 Durden reentered the business with a new logo and name change, “Durden Outdoor Displays”.  In 1986 Durden purchased Gulf Outdoor Advertising, Inc. increasing his plant to nearly 900 paint and poster faces. He began an extensive renovation program to update older billboards remove over 200 billboards from overbuilt areas.

Durden Outdoor Displays, Inc. has a 60,000 square foot Dothan facility housing a full service art, marketing & production company. Earl’s son Bill is Vice President and Creative Director.
