On Lamar and sustainability 

I’m super proud of Lamar’s leadership in the industry around the issue of sustainability.  On this one the credit goes to Bobby Switzer the head of all things production at Lamar…Also to Greg Gauthier, who implements these initiatives.  The two of them truly pioneered the transition to PVC from paper and paste 10 years ago…They also pioneered the development of super efficient LED lights…We deploy more solar arrays than anyone in the industry…We are the largest deployer of distributed array solar panels in the country…That reduces the electric bill and takes the pressure off the grid.

What about batteries

Battery technology needs to evolve for us to deploy solar more effectively and efficiently…And that’s going to happen.  You’ve got a lot of really smart people working on that…The electric car industry is going to produce breakthroughs that inure to our benefit…We need three things to happen.  We need better battery technology…We need better, more fair and standardized net metering arrangements.  And finally there’s a dissipation of power when you send power over power lines and if we could generate and sell to our neighbors that would be nirvana.
