How do you find good out of home advertising employees when unemployment is at a 50 year low? Three ideas.
Use Your Billboards
“How do billboard companies advertise billboard jobs? Billboards” says the headline of a Statesman article on how Reagan Outdoor is advertising for installers on its billboards in Austin.
Everyone you buy something from is a potential hire.
Look for someone who is personable, communicates well and has a great attitude regardless of where they work. Adams Outdoor hired Andrea Messimer Henley after she sold them a copier. They liked her attitude. Ashby Street Outdoor founder and CEO Jim Matalone tells a great story about entering the out of home business: “It was quite some time ago back in the mid-80’s, I was in Atlanta, working my way through college selling furniture. I happened to sell Jim McLaughlin, who was running a Turner Outdoor plant at the time a set of outdoor furniture…we had a billboard on the property. He had a Turner T-shirt on. We had a conversation…he gave me an interview.”
Use the Billboard Insider Classifieds.
18,000 people in the out of home industry visit Billboard Insider each month. Huntington Outdoor owner Justin Powell says: “Thanks to you and your website I’ve hired a General Manager. We received several qualified applicants in response to our Billboard Insider classified” A help wanted ad costs $60 for 60 days. You can place an ad by clicking here.
