Zampatti: “Billboards and barter work well together.”

Yesterday Insider wrote an article on how Ashby St uses barter to trade advertising time for goods and services.  In addition to conducting your own trade with individual companies, you can use a barter exchange to facilitate trade.  Insider talked with Ric Zampatti, CEO of The Barter Company, a 22 year old company based in Atlanta, GA to learn more.  The Barter Company is a nationwide network where businesses trade what they do or sell in exchange for other types of goods and services through ‘round robin trading’.

Ric, how did you get involved in the out of home business?

Billboards and barter work very well together.  Blank face equals no revenue. Barter helps when there’s availability.  I was educated by the late Lawrence Reese along with Bob Postiglione in the early 90’s on outdoor and got into the business in early 2000’s.  Grew to (23) faces in Cherokee and Cobb Co but recently Horton Outdoor acquired all faces but two.

What is ‘Round Robin Bartering’ and how can it help an out of home company?

Round robin bartering is where you remove the pitfalls from one on one trading.   When you do a barter sale (advertiser), you don’t have to take in return what the other does.  Instead, you get paid in barter dollars which go into your account and can be spent with other barter clients.   TBC currently has over 2,500 clients in the southeast and works with other exchanges nationally.   For more info go to www.thebartercompany.com
