Insider was aware that Steve & Sue Sullins, owners of X-Mark Outdoor in Corsicana TX and long time friends of the industry, were looking for a buyer for their billboard plant. That sale was recently finalized and we had a chance to talk with Steve about the transaction and his time in the industry.
Our family sold X-Mark Outdoor last month to Acme Partnership LLC of Austin Texas. They do business as Media Choice and are owned by Curtis Ford.
At the time of the sale X-Mark Outdoor assets consisted of 100 plus static and digital faces in Texas and a few digital faces in the Chicago DMA.
Paul Wright of SignValue was a value-added counselor and broker in the process. I very much appreciated the opportunity to work with Paul on the sale.
Looking forward the future appears positive due to two organizations and leaders in the field:
- Independent Billboard Operators (IBO) with the leadership of Chris Cowlbeck has brought synergism, collaboration and fresh thinking to the industry. New technology, new initiatives with a “Get It Done” mentality.
- And a robust complimentary software (Apparatix) developed by John James is driving efficiencies that were previously unavailable for small and medium size OOH companies.
Lastly I have really enjoyed and benefited from the friendships and colleagues in the industry.
It has been a good ride.
