Nice work if you can get it.

- One board director Jinhy Hoon at Clear Channel Outdoor works for free. She is an EVP and Credit Analyst at PIMCO, an investment manager and Billboard Insider surmises she can’t take compensation due to conflict of interest rules.
Mostly money
- Over half of the outside directors have a background investing (e.g. investments, private equity, credit, venture capital, investment banking).
- One-fifth of the directors have a background in advertising or media (e.g. broadcasting, social media).
- The remaining directors are in fields which of interest to out of home companies (e.g. AI, data, politics, towers) or represent the company’s largest shareholder (Anna Reilly).
Good news and bad news for diversity
- The US out of home companies are ahead of their peers in appointing women board members but are behind their peers in appointing minority board members. Women account for 35% of US Out of Home Board Seats versus a 2021 average of 30% of board seats for the Standard and Poors 500.
- Minorities account for 13% of US Out of Home Board seats versus a 2021 average of 21% for the Standard and Poors 500 companies.
- There’s work to do to make out of home boards representative of the US. Women make up 50% of the US population. Minorities make up 42% of the US population.
