Have you ever considered which billboard in your market is truly unique? It does not have to be a structure you own and operate, just one that you feel is remarkable. Insider would like to share your thoughts and images and this week is starting off with a structure courtesy of Jennifer Sloane in Florida. Here are her comments.
This is mine. I drive by it often in an area north of Orlando, Florida. It’s the floating billboards! Built in a lake (although, like any true chicken and egg conundrum, I wonder if the boards weren’t there before the lake!). You can’t really see it in the picture but there is a long floating wooden bridge (which is giving that rickety-ole’ walkway more credit than it deserves) with steel barrels as the flotation devices. I can see it now… the lease rep telling the ops crew “it’s fine… there’s just a little bit of water there… no big deal… just build a bridge to access the signs!”) I always hoped one day I would actually see the crew walking across the floating access path to see just how unsteady that walk, carrying a heavy vinyl, actually is! And whether the ops crew goes fishing off the catwalks! Gotta love this classic old Florida board.
