Whether it is a Church, Community Outreach, Women’s Crisis Center or your local Salvation Army, charitable organizations struggle through recessions as much or maybe more than those of us in the for-profit world. Our industry does a terrific job of helping out in our communities. Today, let us make you aware of a way to help a non-profit that makes all of us in the OOH industry look good.
A Charlotte Observer article yesterday wrote about Wendy Hickey, founder of ArtPop, and the struggle to raise funds for the organizations 2021 budget. A lot of us know Wendy and her passion to promote local artists using the medium of Out of Home.
Insider talked with Wendy and wanted to pass along an update and some suggestions on how to help, if you are able.
Wendy, can you give us an update on ArtPop and how you have been impacted by the Coronavirus?
Our Charlotte program was in financial distress pre-covid, this has only exasperated that. My paycheck will end on August 31. Any 2020 juried in artist of our program will be protected and featured for an entire year, thank goodness.
What events do you have scheduled and what funds do you need to make them happen?
- Charlotte, NC Region – Need $30,000 to get us through end of 2020. To return in 2021 we need $95,000 (calendar year program)
- Triad Region of NC – Need $19,700 Runs from June of 2020-June 2021
- Columbus, OH – Need $19,200 Runs April 2020-April 2021
