Verde Outdoor / SignBird Website Partnership

Insider is please to announce that Verde Outdoor will have their full website up next week.  If all goes as scheduled you can look in on July 6th. The website is a collaboration between Verde Outdoor and SignBird.

Insider spoke with Dave Woods, CEO and Renee Larson, Marketing Manger at Verde Outdoor and John James at SignBird, for some insight on their partnership.

Dave Wood, CEO Verde Outdoor

You waited a bit before the release of your website.  What were your thoughts behind that decision?

Dave: When Verde Outdoor was formed in 2021, we focused our efforts on acquisitions by partnering with out-of-home operators throughout the Midwest and Mid- and South-Atlantic regions to help build scale. Once we had solid footing in our assets and market coverage, we began to form a dynamic team with the right people to focus our attention on building out our online presence, which includes our website.

We wanted something eye catching and as visual as our industry. Right now, we have a temporary landing page that showcases the power of OOH and Verde Outdoor’s position in that, but we’re looking forward to the launch of our official site within the next week.

Why did you decide to partner with SignBird in developing the new site?

Renee: The out-of-home industry is built up by terrific people, SignBird being one of them. We had productive conversations in the early stages of our website strategy and appreciated their understanding of the industry. They’ve been able to take that knowledge and provide insight into the direction of our site for a product that is customer centric and provides value to our advertisers while being engaging.

SignBird has provided invaluable support through a phased approach: first creating a minimal site to carve out our online visibility and then transitioning to the launch of our large-scale site that will feature a lot of functionality, including an overview of the products we offer, an interactive coverage map, creative best practices, and access to our online bill pay portal.

Can you provide us with three points of emphasis you were looking for in developing your initial web site?

Renee: We’re in the business of storytelling, and we’re always encouraging advertisers to tell theirs. We took that same approach with our website: who are we, what does that look like and how can we make it as easy as possible for our advertisers to create and share a visual message with their audience to boost their brand and build their business.

Your new tagline is terrific! Did you come up with that internally?

Dave: Thank you – we have a great team here at Verde Outdoor. Renee Larson leads our marketing strategy and is overseeing our brand identity. She has done a tremendous job in shaping who we are and bringing branded concepts in front of the team for collaboration. Not only does everyone have a voice within the team, which has proven helpful in generating remarkable ideas like our tagline, but they’re all incredibly talented.
Justin Jolley-vallieres is our project manager and has helped lead the website project to success, while Chris Trudeau is our all-star graphic designer, whose creative genius has set the overall tone of our look and feel. Shona Joubert and Steven Johnson also played an integral role in supporting our branding initiatives with their feedback.

John James, Signbird

Can you provide a brief summary of how SignBird approaches website development?

John: Great question! The SignBird team understands that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all model to web design. Each client has a unique story to communicate to the world and we do our best to tell that story with professional web design. Verde Outdoor understands that and we’re very excited to work with them towards that goal.

Verde Outdoor has plans for continued and potentially significant growth. How does knowing that fit into site development?

John: As a company grows, it’s important that their partners grow with them while also providing scale. A website should be no different, it’s an extension of a business and part of its online identity. Our web ops manager is a constant resource for clients to utilize when maintaining and updating their website.

SignBird is known for high quality aerial video. Is that a significant part of the web site?

John: As a company, we believe professional photo and video content should play a major role in any out-of-home website in 2022. Putting ourselves in the shoes of advertisers, it’s hard to imagine scrolling through a billboard website without viewing a single photo or video of a location. Our industry relies so heavily on a visual to help communicate value, your out-of-home website needs to deliver on that!

Am I right in assuming the project is never totally complete and the release also initiates an ongoing relationship?

Dave: We’re always looking to grow our partnerships within the out-of-home space. As we continue to ramp up our marketing efforts, SignBird’s outdoor expertise and services will be top of mind for future opportunities.
