Insider always appreciates when we hear from our readers.  On Friday we received a call asking if we knew anything about the Troy Sucks at Fishing billboard which was going viral.  We quickly determined that Franklin Outdoor was the source of the posting and reached out to Dan Franklin for the details.

So Dan, Troy Sucks at Fishing.  Who came up with the idea for the board and how did Franklin Outdoor get involved?

A high-school friend of mine asked me about the idea. His friend, Troy, had gotten the actor that played Shooter Mcgavin from Happy Gilmore to talk crap to all of his friends about how  Troy was better at fishing than they were. So to get back at him they made an email account and put it on the billboard to have people email in. The billboard was near the lake that they went to for an ice fishing contest and Troy had no idea they had put it up until they drove by it.

What happened after the image was posted?

He got a ton of responses on it and it went viral. He got interview requests from all of the country. There have been tons of my friends, in and out of the industry, and from all over the country sending me articles of the billboard.
